1) Scope
This Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use Gupshup, including our iOS mobile app and website.
2) Data We Collect
You provide: account/profile details such as name, username, email address, preferences, support messages, and authentication-related information if account features are available.
Automatically: device and operating system, app version, IP address, time zone, language, crash logs, usage events such as screens viewed, lessons completed, words practiced, phrases studied, quiz results, and cookies or identifiers on the web.
Audio/Speech: if Gupshup offers speaking or pronunciation practice, microphone input may be used to process audio, transcripts, or scores to deliver feedback, improve quality, and prevent abuse. You may disable microphone access in iOS device settings.
Payments: subscriptions and purchases are processed by Apple through in-app purchase. We do not store full card numbers.
3) How We Use Data
We use data to operate and improve Gupshup, personalize content, save progress, provide lessons, track vocabulary and quiz performance, and support conversation practice.
We use purchase status to provide paid features through Apple in-app purchase.
We may communicate transactional updates such as receipts, renewal notices, security alerts, support replies, and marketing messages where permitted or consented.
We use data to prevent fraud or abuse, ensure security, debug errors, maintain the service, and comply with legal obligations.
4) Legal Bases (EEA/UK)
Where applicable, our legal bases include contract to provide the service, legitimate interests for security and improvement, consent for marketing or certain cookies, and legal obligation.
5) Sharing
We share information with processors necessary to run Gupshup, including payments through Apple in-app purchase, hosting and storage providers, analytics and crash reporting providers, email or push notification vendors, speech or voice providers if speaking features are used, advertising or measurement providers if used, and legal or compliance parties where required by law or to protect rights.
We do not sell personal information.
6) International Transfers
Data may be processed outside your country. Where required, we use lawful transfer mechanisms such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
7) Retention
We retain data only as long as necessary for the purposes above, including legal, tax, security, and operational retention. Audio or transcript artifacts, if used, are kept only as needed for functionality and quality. You may request deletion subject to verification and applicable legal limits.
8) Your Rights & Choices
You may request access, correction, deletion, or export of your data, and you may object to or restrict certain processing where applicable.
You can opt out of marketing, manage cookies or identifiers through browser and device settings, control microphone and notifications in iOS settings, and manage subscriptions through your Apple account.

9) Children
Gupshup is not directed to children under 13, or the minimum age in your jurisdiction. If we learn a child provided data without appropriate consent, we will delete it.
10) Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, including encryption in transit, access controls, and monitoring. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
11) Third-Party Links & SDKs
Third-party links and SDKs are governed by their own policies. Review them before use.
12) Changes
We may update this Policy. We will post the new effective date and, where required, notify you.
